The Bugs in Garden project held at the Logan Botanical Gardens on 12 August 2011 produced some interesting moths from the Robinson MV and two Heath traps set the previous night. Carcina quercana, a nicely coloured member of the Oecophopridae, was a first for Wigtownshire (VC74). There were three species recorded for the second time ever in VC74, Agonopterix ocellana, Acleris aspersana and Acleris rhombana. One plume moth was trapped, Amblyptilia acanthadactyla, which was the third ever for the VC and only the ninth in the region. There were also three Dark Sword-grass, a migrant.
Elsewhere, our fourth ever Bordered Sallow was trapped at Dornockbrow (VC72) during the first week of August.
