Flies from dusk. Attracted to light.

Life cycle

Two generations. Overwinters as a larva. Larvae September to July.

Larval foodplants

Marsh Bedstraw, Common Bedstraw and possibly other bedstraws.

Habitat

Fens, bogs, wet heath and damp woodland.

History

First recorded in Dumfries and Galloway in VC74 at Corsemalzie by Gordon, who noted that it was ‘abundant in meadows and damp places’, for VC73 in 1942 near Gatehouse of Fleet by Russell and for VC72 in 1943 at Tynron by Duncan.
