Can be disturbed by day. Flies from dusk. Attracted to light.

Life cycle

Two generations. Overwinters as a larva. Larvae June to July and September to May. Pupates in a cocoon in soil.

History

First recorded for Dumfries and Galloway in 1858 for VC72 near Moffat by Somerville in ‘local woods’, for VC74 near Monreith by Morton and for VC73 near Gatehouse of Fleet by Russell.
