Life cycle
Two generations. Overwinters as a pupa underground. Larvae June to July and again September.
Larval foodplants
The flowers of various plants including Bramble, Dog-rose, Hawthorn, Elder, Goldenrod and Wild Angelica .
Habitat
Lowland woodland, hedgerows, urban parks and gardens.
History
The first record for Dumfries and Galloway was not until 1974 for VC73 at the Gatehouse of Fleet Rothamsted light trap, in 1976 for VC74 at the Rothamsted light trap at Newton Stewart and 1995 for VC72 at Kirkton.
