Can be disturbed by day from its foodplants. Attracted to light.

Life cycle

One generation. Overwinters as a small larva. Larvae July to early June. Pupates among plant debris.

Gorse, Broom and Petty Whin.

Habitat

Heathland, moorland, scrub and open woodland.

First recorded for Dumfries and Galloway in 1860 for VC72 near Dumfries by Lennon, in 1870 for VC73 in Colvend parish by White and 1899 for VC74 near Monreith by Morton.
