The Dumfries and Galloway moth website originated from work undertaken by former county moth recorder Keith Naylor. This formerly appeared on a website hosted on Google Sites. The current website was established in 2017 on a platform with greater flexibility and longevity and superseded the original site. The site uses much of the original text. In 2023 a group of volunteers collaborated to edit and update the original species accounts and text, with the support of South West Scotland Environmental Information Centre, the local environmental records centre for Dumfries and Galloway.
