Rests amongst low vegetation by day.  Comes to light.

Life cycle

Larvae present may-June in moss at the bases of trees.  Adults May-September.

Mosses.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at at an unknown site in Kirkcudbrightshire by a person unknown prior to 2001 (MOGBI data), while the first for Dumfriesshire was found during a ‘Grey Daggers’ Moth Group field meeting at Effgill near Bentpath on 21st July 2012.
