Life cycle

Larvae: July-August, September-April.  Adults: May-July, July-September.  Larva feeds in the stem, creating a gall from which frass exudes.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found in “Galloway” during 1983, while the first for Wigtownshire was of a larva found at Port Mona on 30th July 2012. No records from Dumfriesshire.
Eight adults were found 24th July 2015 on the Mull of Galloway (VC74) with further records of galls in coastal Wigtownshire and two of those in VC73 during 2016.
