Life cycle

Larvae: August-June in spun leaves.  Adults: June-September.

Larval foodplants

Herbaceous plants and shrubs of heathland and moorland, especially Blaeberry, Bell Heather and Bog Myrtle.  Occasionally conifers.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found near Monreith, Wigtownshire, during July 1899 by K. J. Morton, while the first for Dumfriesshire was found at Black Loch, near Ae on 31st July 1950 by Sir Arthur Duncan, with the Kirkcudbrightshire first being found at Kirkconnell Flow NNR on 11th August 1978 by Sir Arthur Duncan, all three specimens at the National Museums Scotland.
