Life cycle

Larvae present ?September-May, at first in a leaf bud, in which it overwinters, then in the resulting young shoot.  Adults May-October.

Larval foodplants

Willow species, especially Goat Willow and Grey Willows.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Minnigaff, Kirkcudbrightshire, sometime during 1967 by E. C. Pelham-Clinton, while the first for Dumfriesshire was found at Barony College, Parkgate, Dumfriesshire, on 9th July 1982 during a Scottish Entomologists’ gathering, with the Wigtownshire first being found at Elrig Loch, near Mochrum, on 28th June 1988 by E. C. Pelham-Clinton.
