Larvae present ?Setptember-May, overwintering in either a bud, a shoot which then droops, or a catkin.  Adults June-August/

Birch species.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Penpont, Dumfriesshire, on 3rd August 1975 by E. C. Pelham-Clinton, while the first for Kirkcudbrightshire was found at Kirkconnell on 2nd July 1977 by Sir Arthur Duncan, specimen at National Museums Scotland, with the Wigtownshire first being found at The Forest in late June 1989 by E. F. Hancock.
