Identification

Distinctive with grey forewing.  dark brown kidney and dark dot on oval.

Recording Method

Attracted to light. readily disturbed by day.

Life cycle

One generation. Overwinters as small larva. Larva August to late May.

Habitat

Unimproved damp pasture, hay meadows, woodland rides.

History 

The first record for D&G was a daytime sighting of 4 at Brighouse Bay (VC 73) in June 2021 with 17 seen later at the same site. Recorded from other locations in the region in subsequent years.
