One generation. Overwinters as small larva. Larvae August to late May. Pupates in na cocoon on or below ground.

Unimproved damp pasture, hay meadows, woodland rides, marshland and damp woodland.

History 

The first record for D&G was a daytime sighting of 1 at Sandyhills (VC73) on 24 June 2018. This was followed by 4 by daylight at Brighouse Bay (VC 73) in June 2021 with 17 seen later at the same site. Recorded from other locations in the region in subsequent years.
