Recording method

Flies at dusk and comes to light.  During the evening can be found nectaring at flowers including ragwort, Hogweed and Oxeye Daisy.

Life cycle

Larvae May-June in a whitish tube among the moss. Adults June-September.

Larval foodplants

Various mosses.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found on Auchencairn Bay, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 29th July 2004, while the first for Dumfriesshire was found at Courance on 11th August 2012.
