Readily disturbed in sunshine. Active at dusk and comes to light.
Life cycle
Larvae September-March amongst moss where grass is also growing.

Various mosses and Common Bent grass, Agrostis capillaris.
History
The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found near Monreith, Wigtownshire, during July 1899 by K. J. Morton, specimen at National Museums Scotland, while the first for Dumfriesshire was found at Castlehill in Kirkmahoe parish on 19th July 1978 by Sir Arthur Duncan, specimen also at National Museums Scotland, with the Kirkcudbrightshire first being found at Lowes Lochs on 23rd June 1996 during a Scottish Entomologists’ gathering.
