Recording method

Rests by day under leaves and on tree trunks, flies in evening sunshine. Attracted to light.

Life cycle

Larvae June-July, September-October.  Larvae initially mine the leaf then feeds externally. Adults fly April-May, July-August.

Larval foodplants

Small-leaved Lime or Tilia x europaea.

Habitat

Woodland, parkland and gardens.

History

The first record for D&G was an adult in Dumfries on 11 August 2023. This was quickly followed with several vacated mines in fallen leaves in a Dumfries supermarket car park, 18 September 2023.
