History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found in Colvend parish, Kirkcudbrightshire, during July 1871 by Francis Buchanan White, while the first for Dumfriesshire was found in Dumfries on 19th July 1974 by A. M. Emmet and was of the form octomaculana, with the Wigtownshire first being found at Port of Counan on 21st July 2006 during a ‘Grey Daggers’ Moth Group field meeting.
