Identification

Confusion can arise with mines of another Bramble miner, the more common Stigmella aurella. 

Life cycle

Mines: June-July, September-March.  Adults fly May-July, July-October.

Larval foodplants

Rubus species, especially Bramble.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at an unknown site by a person unknown prior to February 1975 (BRC/MOGBI data), while the first for Kirkcudbrightshire was of an adult found at Mersehead RSPB on 22nd July 2005.
