Identification

Has a very broad longitudinal streak that follow the lower edge of the forwing for half the wing length.

Recording method

Attracted to light. Commonly disturbed from vegetation in the field.

Flight period

Late May-early August.

Larval foodplants

Sedges, cottongrass and other grasses.

Habitat

Bogs and wetland habitats.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found on Auchencairn Bay, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 16th July 2002, while the first for Dumfriesshire was found on Greenwrae Flow on 2nd July 2011, with the Wigtownshire first being found on Barneight Moss on 24th July 2012.
