Identification

Distinctive broad reddish band in the middle of the forewing.

Recording method

Attracted to light. Often disturbed in the field.

Flight period

June-July.

Larval foodplants

Oaks and occasionally alders.

Habitat

Woodland.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Mersehead RSPB, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 26th June 2010, while the first for Dumfriesshire was found at Eskrigg NR, Lockerbie, on 16th June 2011. No records from Wigtownshire.
