Identification

Specimen or photograph required for record acceptance due to its rarity status. The broad forewing with the strongly arched costa is the key to separate it from Buff Footman.

Life cycle

Overwinters as a larva between August and late May, pupating among plant debris.

Larval foodplants

Lichens growing on trees and bushes.

Habitat

Damp woodland, wet meadows, fens and marshy areas.
