Usually distinctive. Care required, potential confusion with Common Footman and Buff Footman.

Life cycle

Overwinters as a larva. Larvae August to late May. Pupates among plant debris.

Lichens and algae growing on trees and shrubs.

Habitat

Damp woodland, wet meadows, fens and marshy areas.

History

The first record for D&G was one at Carsfad (VC73) 0n 19th August 2010. Further records quickly followed and the moth is now widespread and established in the region.
