Very difficult to separate from other Dioryctria species. Dissection is required and a voucher specimen should be retained.

Coniferous woodland.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Torrs Warren, Wigtownshire, on 7th August 1997. No records from Dumfriesshire or Kirkcudbrightshire.
