Recording method

Males fly by day and later come to light.   Females have under-developed wings and rest on trunks.

Life cycle

Larvae present June-August, feeding between spun flat leaves.  Adults October-November.

Larval foodplants

Oak species, Blaeberry, Aspen and Small-leaved Lime.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Castlehill in Kirkmahoe parish, Dumfriesshire, on 13th October 1978 by Sir Arthur Duncan, specimen at National Museums Scotland, while the first for Kirkcudbrightshire was found at Low Camer Wood on 12th October 2011.
