Life cycle

Larvae: June-July, first mining a single young needle then later feeding amongst spun needles.  Adults: March-June.

Larval foodplants

Alder and birch species; also recorded from rose species.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Kirkconnell Flow NNR, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 9th May 1981 by Sir Arthur Duncan, specimen at National Museums Scotland, while the first for Dumfriesshire was netted at Longbridgemuir on 19th April 2014.
