Identification

The palest Eudonia with faded indistinct markings. Caution should be taken for worn individuals of other species.

Recording method

Attracted to light. Commonly found in the field.

Flight period

Late May-early October

Larval foodplants

Mosses, has been reared from Calliergonella cuspidata.

Habitat

A wide range of habiats but particularly arround wetland habitats.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found on Auchencairn Bay, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 29th July 2004, specimen at National Museums Scotland, while the first for Dumfriesshire was found at Caerlaverock SSSI on 27th June 2014 during a Scottish Entomologists’ gathering, with the Wigtownshire first being of a number of specimens found at Mains of Cairnbrock during a ‘Grey Daggers’ field meeting on 25th July 2014.
