History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Needles Eye, near Caulkerbush, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 21st July 1963 by E. C. Pelham-Clinton, while the first for Dumfriesshire was found at Black Loch, near Ae, on 11th July 1978 by Sir Arthur Duncan, who found the Wigtownshire first at Dowalton Marshes SWT on 18th June 1983, both specimens at National Museums Scotland.
