Life cycle
Larvae: September-May, in autumn mining a twig, in spring feeding in expanding leaf-buds or, if on willow, in the catkins. Adults:May-August.
Larval foodplants
Black-poplar, Hybrid Black-poplar, Aspen. Less often on willow species.
History
The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Tynron, Dumfriesshire, on 16th June 1944 by Sir Arthur Duncan, who also found the first for Kirkcudbrightshire at Troston on 26th June 1976, both specimens at National Museums Scotland, with the Wigtownshire first being found at Glenstockadale, near Leswalt, during June 2011.
