Recording method

Comes to light.   Flies round the foodplant at dusk.  The large, conspicuous masses of down hanging out of the seed-head is a sign that larvae are present.

Life cycle

Larvae September-May, adults June-September.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found on Auchencairn Bay, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 3rd August 2004.
