Resident. Rare.

Recording method

Active by day and in evening sunshine.  Feeds on the pollen of oaks, Sycamore and hawthorns.  May swarm around tree tops.

Life cycle

It is not known which months the larvae are present.  Adults fly April-June.

Larval foodplant

Not known.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found in Craignee Wood, Penpont, on 18th May 1975 by E. C. Pelham-Clinton; there are further records from Tynron nearby.
