The first accepted record for D&G  was one at Tarras Valley (VC 72) on 23 April 2022.

Identification

Stocky with a very furry thorax. Forewing pointed with a very straight leading edge. Quite variable in colour.

Recording Method.

Attracted to light, also comes to sugar and flowers.

Life cycle

One generation. Overwinters as a pupa in an underground cocoon with the adult fully formed inside. Larvae May-July.

Larval foodplants

A range of woody and herbaceous plants, including sallows and birches, ragworts.

Habitat

A range of open, usually damp habitats.
