Recording Method.

Attracted to light, also comes to sugar and flowers.

Life cycle

One generation. Overwinters as a pupa. Larvae May-July. Pupates in a cocoon underground.

Larval foodplants

A range of woody and herbaceous plants, including sallows and birches, ragworts.

Habitat

A range of open, usually damp habitats.

History

The first record for D&G was one at Tarras Valley (VC 72) on 23 April 2022. Recorded at the same site in subsequent years.
