Recording method

Adults can be found at rest on the leaves and stems of the foodplant.

Life cycle

Larvae present May-June.  Adults fly July-August.

Larval foodplants

Bur-reed species Sparganium, Iris species, Reed Sweet-grass Glyceria maxima.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at an unknown site in Kirkcudbrightshire by a person unknown prior to 1996 (MOGBI data), while the first for Dumfriesshire was found at Caerlaverock WWT on 22nd July 2011.
