Identification

A reasonably distinctive  grey moth with reddish markings and a black scale tuft near the head.

Recording Method

Attracted to light. Can be disturbed in the field.

Flight period

May-Septmeber.

Larval foodplants

Heathers and possibly Rock-roses.

Habitat

Heathland.

History

The first confirmed for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Auchencairn on 07/10/2018. No records from Dumfriesshire or Wigtownshire.
