Combination of pinkish or reddish brown and grey is diagnostic in most cases.

Recording Method.

Attracted to light, also comes to sugar and flowers.

Life cycle

One generation. Overwinters as a larva, September to early June. Feeds at first on the roots then inside the stem. Pupates in soil or leaf litter.

Larval foodplants

Various grasses, including Lyme Grass, Marram and Cock’s-foot.

Habitat

A wide range of grassland habitats.
