Recording method

Flies at dusk and comes to light.

Life cycle

Larvae present April-June among several spun shoots of Glasswort (or, if on an isolated Glasswort plant, in a silk tunnel on the ground).  On Sea Aster makes galleries in the leaves similar to those of Bucculatrix maritima.  On Annual Sea-blite spins leaves or shoots.  Adults fly June-September.

Larval foodplants

Glasswort (Salicornia) species.  Also Sea Aster, Common Sea-lavender, Sea-spurrey spp, Annual Sea-blite, but these may not be regular hosts.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found on Auchencairn Bay, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 23rd July 2002.
