Recording method

Comes to light.  May be found at rest on tree trunks.

Life cycle

Larvae present May-September.  Larva feeds in a silk-lined tube, open both ends.  It hides by day, coming out at night to chew holes in leaves.  Adults March-May.

Larval foodplants

Birch species, Hornbeam or Small-leaved Lime.

History

First for Dumfries and Galloway was an adult which came to MV light at Blackcraig, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 26 March 2020.
