Life cycle
One generation. Overwinters as a larva. Larvae July to May. Pupates in a cocoon in soft earth.
Larval foodplants
A range of herbaceous plants, including Cleavers, bedstraws and Primrose.
Habitat
Favours damp areas, scrub, grassland, hedgerows, woodland rides, grassland, gardens.
History
First recorded for Dumfries and Galloway for VC72 at Raehills, south of Beattock by Little, for VC74 in 1899 near Monreith by Morton and for VC73 in 1942 near Gatehouse by Russell.
