Life cycle
Larvae June-May, adults June-August. Larvae initially feed in the stem of a terminal shoot, killing the tip. They overwinter in the stem, then in spring feed on new shoots and flowers.

History
The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Mersehead RSPB, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 20th July 1996 during a ‘Grey Daggers’ Moth Group field meeting, while the first for Dumfriesshire was found at Powfoot on 5th July 1997, also during a ‘Grey Daggers’ Moth Group field meeting. The first for Wigtownshire was of eight netted on Craigoch Park Moor on 20th June 2012 with a further individual found at Dunskey Castle same day. Torrs Warren produced a single in 2015 and five individuals during 2016.
