Identification
The cream-coloured outlined wedge or pit (fovea) on the forewing gives the moth its scientific name.

History
The first for Dumfries & Galloway was caught indoors in Dalbeattie, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 30th August 2014 around a plant that had been bought at a local garden centre who subsequently informed me it had been imported from Spain. No records from Dumfriesshire or Wigtownshire.
This pest species from the Mediterranean Basin and Canary Islands first appeared in Britain in Norfolk in 1996 and since then had also been recorded from Cornwall, Hampshire, Montgomeryshire, Notts., Scilly, Suffolk, West Midlands. Regards Scotland, the first appeared at Inchmarlo, Banchory, Kincardineshire (VC91) in January 2006, with further records from Ardentinny, Argyll (VC98) on 4th May 2013 and in the Outer Hebrides in 2014.
