Life cycle

Larvae: September-May in spun flowers or in the seed-head.  Adults: May-July, July-October.

Larval foodplants

Yarrow, Centaurea species (knapweeds etc), Corn Chamomile.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Kirkton, Dumfriesshire, on 7th July 1996, while the first for Kirkcudbrightshire was found at Mersehead RSPB on 20th July 1996 during a ‘Grey Daggers’ Moth Group field meeting, with the Wigtownshire first being found at Cardryne near Drummore on 8th September 2012.
