Life cycle

Larvae: April-June (lowland areas), June-August or August-May (upland areas), in a spun terminal shoot.  Adults: July-August (May-August in upland areas).

Larval foodplants

Blaeberry; in upland areas also Bearberry and mountain willow species.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at an unknown site in Dumfriesshire by a person unknown prior to 1993 (SNH data), while the first for Kirkcudbrightshire was found at Cairnsmore of Fleet where fifteen were netted on 9th July 2014, one being verified by K. P. Bland.
