Identification

Grey kidney mark with a brownish blotch between it and the costa, on an otherwise plain wing is diagnostic.

Recording Method.

Attracted to light, also comes to sugar.

Larval foodplants

Larvae feed on flowers of Restharrow, Scentless Mayweed, Sticky Groundsel and garden marigolds.

Habitat

Mainly coastal but also occurs inland.

History 1860-2010

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was trapped at Kirkton (VC72) on 18th June 2006, while the second was trapped at Old Torr on Auchencairn Bay (VC73) on 24th June 2009.
