Recording method

Can be disturbed from mossy sandhill vegetation.  Comes to light.

Life cycle

Larvae present October-March.  Feeds in an upright, whitish tube incorporating a few sand grains.  Adults: May-August.

Larval foodplants

Various mosses.

Habitat

Extensive coastal sand-dunes.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Galloway Farm, near Alton, Wigtownshire, on 6th August 2008.
