Life cycle

Mines: September-May.  Adults: May-July.

Larval foodplants

Many grasses of the Poacaea family, particularly Cock’s-foot Dactylis, Creeping Soft-grass Holcus mollis, Yorkshire-fog Holcus lanatus and Tufted Hair-grass Deschampsia cespitosa.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Templand, Dumfriesshire, on 5th July 1973 by E. C. Pelham-Clinton, while the first for Kirkcudbrightshire was found at Wood of Cree on 25th June 2005 during a Scottish Entomologists’ gathering.
