Flies at dawn and comes to light.

Life cycle

Larvae September-May, adults June-August.

Larval foodplants

On the fungi Diatrype disciformis or Hypoxylon fuscum found on dead or dying branches of Hazel.  Larvae are in silken galleries on the surface of the bark, the galleries covered with pale and dark frass, joining several fruiting bodies.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was of a larva found at the Wood of Cree, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 25th June 2006 during a Scottish Entomologists’ gathering.
