Larvae present August-May, possibly other months. Adults June-July.
Larval foodplants
In birds’ nests, particularly those out in the open rather then nest-boxes. Occasionally on dead animals or woollen material in the open.
History
The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Corsemalzie, Wigtownshire, on 27th June 1988 by E. C. Pelham-Clinton, while the first for Kirkcudbrightshire was found at Bargaly Lodge on 17th June 1992, with the Dumfriesshire first being found at Kirkton on 26th June 1998.
