Life cycle

Larvae present May-June on leaves in a slight web.  Adults fly July-October.

Larval foodplants

Oak species, Birch species, Hazel, Bog-myrtle, Alder species, Hornbeam.

History

The first for Dumfries & Galloway was found at Kirkconnell, Kirkcudbrightshire, on 25th July 1977 by Sir Arthur Duncan, specimen at National Museums Scotland, while the first for Dumfriesshire was found at Lochwood Oaks on 8th August 1996 during a ‘Grey Daggers’ Moth Group field meeting.
