Usually distinctive.
Recording Method
Attracted to light.
Life cycle
One generation. Overwinters as a pupa. Larvae late June to early October. Pupates on the foodplant or in plant litter.
Larval foodplants
A wide range of broadleaved trees and shrubs including hawthorns, Blackthorn, Crab Apple, oaks, birches, Hazel, limes and elms.
Habitat
Woodland, hedgerows, gardens and other wooded or scrubby areas.
History
The first record for D&G was one at Kippford (VC 73) on 29 May 2022. This was quickly followed by multiple records in 2023, mainly in VC73 but also VC74. Now widely established in the region.
