Attracted to light.

Life cycle

One generation. Overwinters as a pupa. Larvae mid-June to mid-August. Pupates underground.

Larval foodplants

Oaks, birches, Beech, Hornbeam, pines, Yew and other woody plants.

Habitat

Broad-leaved and mixed woodland.

History

The first record for D&G (and for Scotland) was of two taken at light in Dalbeattie Forest (VC73) on 13 May 2026. Another was recorded at the same site on 6 June 2026.
